Case referred to amnesty board

The government media is announcing that the case has been sent to Amnesty Board. So the information I heard earlier is right.

Amnesty Board of whom? Of woyane? That is part of the mockery. I am certain that this coward crook does not have the gut to implement the decision he himself cooked and passed, and he knows that it is all farce. He is well aware that he is in a deep shit and there is no way out of it. The innocent leaders of the oppressed Ethiopian majority shall be free soon. Not due to his farce clemency, but because truth is on their side.

I, like any Ethiopian, do not want to see our beloved leaders confined in prison. But, what will become of the democratic movement once they are freed (after clemency) if their political right is stripped. For me, it is bitter sweet to see them freed with no freedom. They fought for our freedom, and in the process they lost theirs'. What are we doing? What should I do? Any leader?? Forget Taye, Bezabih and other vultures...I need a leader that loves me, my country and even the enemy.

EZ,

Just wanted to commend you for your reliable information. I just hope that in a country where journalism is still in its infancy, many will take note of your work and learn from it.

As to the prisoners, I just hope and pray that their predicament (of course an understatement) will come to an end soon.

This is another "mazenagia" game by weyane. The most important thing is that thier political right. From now on any talk of clemancy is for weyane's sake to stay in power. We all knew what was in store for the leaders.

I do not know what to say ...i am really sorry about these prisoners. We all thought it was true when they started that evil-minded games(Melese's election drama). Let God give them the heart and mind to sign on all the things he wants to do and leave that cursed land away. They are done and pay more than enough .

E-z , do not fall victim of woyane old tricks - confusion, doubt , suspision ,and mistrust.

You are doing it often, i suggest you wait untill you have the concrete evidence. this will jeopardise our struggle. We will fight by any means , everywhere and at ALL TIMES- untill the killers will come to justice and the elected leaders take charge of the nation.

E-Z , please do not falter!!

is meles going to be on EtV tonight. rummers are running high in DC as well.

Be it today or at the eve of the Millenium, Weyane will set them free, just to reconcile Amharas with the isolated Tegarus!! They are shi'ting for AFD is bringing the already polarized Amharas and Oromos together fastening Weyane's demise.

Now they started to play the same old game!!! They will pardone Amharas and attack Oromos. As usual Amharas will start to sing UNITY and OLF-secessionist!! That is the goal of Weyanes, to bring back Amharas to their own camp and to their service!!!!!

E-Z,

I have never heard of an “Amnesty Board.” If this board exists, it must be a joke. Woyanie knows no amnesty. What Woyanie knows is Ak-47 and manipulating the justice system so that all opponents of Zenawi are kept in prison for life.

If Zenawi is to be on TV today, the only thing he will tell us is the following:

“As of tomorrow there is no demonstration or anything like that. I have divided Addis Ababa into 5 zones and the security forces will directly report to me. Any attempt to violet this restriction well be “properly” and “decisively” dealt by the Secuity forces.”

That is All. Do not cheat yourself.

CHEERS CUD leaders!!!!
YES YES YES they would lastly be free whether meles likes it or not, it may cost as millions of lives but no one would sleep while they are languishing in life imprisonment and all those cowards in the murderous regime would go deep into their hell.

Here starts the struggle, no millenium without all CUD offices in the country open, NO millenium until all the illegal institutions like security, federal police got dismantled, until all bandas in the Judiciary system, the fake electoral board liquidated get changed before the next election. ILLEGAL devils should be treated illegally till they feel the heat as they practice it on millions. The struggle is at its peak and we only wish our leaders breath the fresh air in ADDIS.
BIRTUKANACHIN, these four words "LOVE" are in short for your JEGNINET, V V V V. WE LOVE you so much, your history would be on golden written, even in short time, You are the very first to be mentioned by SIYE ... You are igniniting the rainbow of peace, freedom and democracy in the nation .... KINIJIT will prevail and will win and you all the heros would lead the nation to peace and prosperity

We all love to see the CUD leaders walk free from prison. However, when they walk out they should walk out free person with all their rights protected. Meles is trying to let them out of prison by taking away their rights in the country's political activities.
As far as I see it, Meles gave them these option before they even went to prison:
- To stay out of politics by:
Obeying TPLF's orders
Leaving the country etc..
After two years in prison I don't see any change on Melese's game.
He is saying againg and again
"Satay out of my way..OR.."
Is it acceptable to Ethiopian people?
That is where the Ethiopian people need to focus and give Meles and co. a lesson.

This is not a story. It was alreday official. Listen to Radio Fana. Why would say I am hearing that the case has been referred to the Amnesty Board as if you are hearing from a source. Please be honest. Read what I commented earlier. Here again.

Calm Down Supporters

Is it sad that they were sentenced to rigorous terms? Yes it is sad. We need to learn to be calm, collected, reflective in our discourse. The hoho and the useless shout on the internet where millions Ethiopians don't even read it does not push anything an inch.

Despite the empty shout, the court has made a decision. It is now time for the pardon process to move along. In a few days and weeks, that process will bear fruit.

Meles is the one who needs to ask for his own clemency. The Ethiopian people will be the judge.
What is their life with out Ethiopian Politics. This a purposful strtegy by EPDRF to divert the focus on HR 2300. Lets focus and lobby so we can brake TPLF's spinal cord.

EZ,
A comment entitled,
"Mercenary Democracy and the Politics of Deception in Ethiopia," posted under "Siye, The Healer" is very perceptive and interesting. Do you know when it was posted?

agree with the above anon - since there is no court in Ethiopia that is functional, (the prosecutors and the judges belong in primitive comic books not in courts) it is time to now proceed to the other options outside of Ethiopia to create accountability when a whole country is held hostage. The whole world is in danger with these cavemen in charge of 77 million people in this important region. all they have been doing so far is manufacturing terror. The conversation needs to change away from Meles' latest communiqu̩ to the real deal through grass roots efforts in every angle Рlegal, PR, political, everything. Time to make history happen in reverse. To the question on leading the way, only kinigit international, of course you have to ignore the back door guys who are operating as cavemen themselves - may be meles' $ creation - by the way, I don't beleive they are Kinigit - I'm sure we are now trained to recognaize the spys, the bribed and the mind poor.

Meles is showing his true nature..he is acting as one 'neighbourhood bully'. He will not leave you alone until you 'say uncle'. Yemiadigh Lij AyiTlah yibalal.
Let us see what will happen when the bully gets old, ie as Woyane is aging!

1/ The release of Siye Abraha, 2/ the start of the peace conference in Somalia, and 3/ the sentencing of the CUDP leaders almost in the same week is not a mere coincidence. I think Meles wants to appease the Tigrians and America, but show to the people of the rest of Ethiopia that they do not matter no matter what. And even if he issues a decree of amnesty to the CUDP leaders, he will not cancel the judicial sentence that bans them from any form of political participation in the future. And this will be a big political loss to the Ethiopian people as well as democarcy.

Its all lie, Meles is playing game

people here in addia ababa are standing in there toes, if you see addis ababa last nignt you can not belive your eyes. everyone was in there home be for the time gets 7:00 Melese beter release our leaders otherwise things will be worse than they have been

Anonymous said...

I think there is some confusion here! there will be no amnesty or amnesty board in Ethiopia. What they can get is just a pardon or clemency. I think readers need to know the difference between pardon and amnesty. If they were to be granted amnesty, that would bring them back to innocence and the can pursue their political life as well. But what they are getting here is just pardon. EZ ..you have to make that distinction

Dear EZ and brothers,
Have you realized that the CUD signed document released by TPLF is a forged one?
It is a collection of Scanned files from different places and then are joined together. So funny!
There are also people (like Dawit Kebede) who signed the paper with out their presence.
Check it out and you will find it forged.

Released or not, ALL Meles wants is for them to be out of politics for good as they are the only ones with popular support and threaten his throne.

In other words, as long as Meles guarantees they won't run again for office, he does not care if all are running around in Addis or wherever.

Lets keep our eyes on the prize. We want our freedom. So far CUD is the only party that speaks to our dreams. Meles has so far managed to shift the issue from the freedom of 77 million people to only 38. We are pleased they are going to be out of jail, but we will continue for them to be FREE to elect be elected as they have done no crime. The only criminals are the TPLF leaders and their collaborators.

EZ or any one else with info. Can you please share the details on,
Ethiopia’s Amnesty procedural Act 395/1996?
Thanks
----------------------------------
One can only guess that some resolution and an official statement could be released before the mark up for H.R.2003 takes effect on July 18, 2007. It was PM Meles’s request to post pond it, unless it was to hold off until after sentencing.

What is imposed on them is not good .
-Not to participate in politics in the future
-Not to run for office
-Not to VOTE
The good news is that they could be released. The prisoners of conscience have been a symbol and have become some pillars. One can only imagine the flame in their spirit and desire to make a difference and which has been through the political arena and well ingrained in them.

For now, in my opinion, the good thing will be to give them space to breath. None of us have been in the place and lime light they have been. Leadership does not always have to be just through politics and hopefully up coming opinions, editorials and comments will include more optimistic and creative solutions which could also be a bridge to over come the bad situation that had been lingering these past two years. They have an option to appeal and if the first penalty that could be dropped is to guarantee at least THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE, it will be nice.

It is a struggle but look forward for peace and optimism.

I think you are right.

Some of the regime's media has also calling it Amnesty board under Procedural Act 395/1996( the new regime's era and act?)
According to the latest info. PM advisor Ato Bereket Simon refers to it as, ETHIOPIAN PARDON BOARD.

The above anon (9:34am) commented: "What are we doing? What should I do? Any leader?? Forget Taye, Bezabih and other vultures...I need a leader that loves me, my country and even the enemy."

Why are you trying to look for an excuse? Or are you a Woyannie pretending to be an Ethiopian while doing your dirty work.

Dr. Taye is an excellent leader with proven record. We will follow him if he has the right strategy.

The Somalians are doing their best, The Eritreans are pushing the screw towards the Woyannies, the OLF, ONLF and EPPF are doing their part - It is the Diaspora Ethiopians lead by Mr. Andargachiew and the Hodam business people of Ethiopia with a faudelent lucrative business that are becoming an obstacle to our struggle.

Ethiopia will prevail.

Wey Hagere! every thing we say here defys commensense, the former "Dedebet"shifta, who turned multi-millioner vagabond is now sending the case to Amnesity.Deservedly this is so;we like to continue bow down before international aspirants,in the hope of competing with Melese for influence from the same sources:even when we know that the snitch is the choice of the state department.
"Ere jegna yeleme wey be hageru!" If we can listen one another,we could have not suffered all this:many in the past saye let us not keep prolonging the rule of the tugs.Time to stand up and shake the nest of the foul bird that has been camping far from its kebele.

I am not proud of this prisoners. HOw come they sign on such a stupid letter only to get out of prison. They are really cowards, they lack determination.....Really shame on them. Further more those people are no more prisoners of conscience.I don't see any ground to see them as prisoners of conscience whilethey are admitting that they are responsible for the atrocities followed the May 2005 election. As to me, those people don't deserve any amnesty if they admit that they are in the picture.

Anonymous said...

After the May 200 election that devastated the TPLF ethno-facsist and ethno-capitalist gang, TPLF went bisrek and they had no sleep since. Their plan was how to neutralize this vibrant party -CUD that gave them such a hard time. Eliminate the leaders and notorious members phsically, if possiple, neutralize them by throwing them in jail for life, etc. They were exploring all thec options.

Had it not been for the pressure bioth enternal and external, they had let all this great people die in prison. But the pressure, in the form of cutting direct budgetary support also- the most crucial one- TPLF is thriving on donor money. At last, we are now seeing the well devised strategy of bneutralization in action. Everything is well coreographed. 1/ Prosecutor to swing the sword of the death penalty;
2/ Court to say "it is ok because their crime is only an attempt to overthrow the government and not consumated, life imprisonment would suffice. The funny thing here is if the alleged overthrow was consummated/succeded let alone there will be no the kangaroo court, but the all TPLF corrupt gang could have also faced justice;

3/ Court to remove the civil rights of all the opposition leaders for life. This is the crunch. TPLF's main target was to liquidate these guys from the political scene of Ethiopia. Because these opposition people are too honest; loved by the majority of the people, except by those who are profiters of the status quo, TPLF cannot afford to keep them in politics and have a strong opposition. In TPLF Ethiopia everything about democracy that they talked about every day is topsy-turvy;

4/ Then now pardon board, as if there is such an institution independently functioning....Pardon Board or Girma Woldegiorgis will act in line with the choreography prepared by the TPLF/Meles.

5/ Spreading lies, purjury and forgery are the wholemark of TPLF. Immediately after the so called sentencing by the cadre judges, Walta released a forgery of the document that the prisoners signed. What they did was they prepared TPLF's version of an apology and pasted it above the signatures of the great heroes.

Anonymous said...

It will be a shamefull ending for CUD leaders if they get out of the prison declearing that they are responsible for the human and property loss during the protest. God will not apologize them, history will not apologize them, the people of Ethiopia will not apologize them, too. Now it is time for everyone of us to know who our enemy is.

Anonymous said...

It very sad and enormous, for all of us, who were waiting for justice for the men and women who lost their lives.
I personally, feel that those people who gave their precious life for freedom are doomed, because of this week kalit drama.
I understand that the pain and fear among CUD leaders, being in prison and go through anguish for years. I have been there. However, the responsibility they have (CUD leaders), which entrusted by the people of Ethiopia at ballot box is huge.
We were looking to them as our leaders and heroes and ultimately change the life of many for the better. Apparently, it doesn’t look like that.
What a tragedy?
Can some one give me some words, to feel the gap?

I know a lot of people hurt by this. Meles and his cronies are winning the game, at list at this time. But every one knows the truth, including the state department, the EU and the
International community who are close to the Ethiopian politics.

Let God bless the country.

What are your people talking. I am hearing that they have signed the document. I wish it is not true.
Please, give me some more information that they did not actually sign on the paper.
