The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa(UNECA) is collaborating with the Meles government to stifle free speech. The commission's media center where international and domestic journalists get free internet access has blocked this blog. Users who tried to access it received a message which said access to viewing the site is restricted.
User attempts to circumvent the censor also failed. It is a shame for an organization of ECA's mandate to collude with a dictatorship in attempt to trample upon the basic right of Ethiopians.

Come on EZ, easy!
Majority of the so called diplomats in UNECA - as I know them - are bunch of big bellied pretentious oldies. Do you think they would dare to anger their big boss - USA and their friend Meles? Me, I don't.
Everybody there knows that ECA has done nothing for Africa/ Ethiopia except that they have been sharing a bit of their income with the beautiful Ethiopian bar ladies.
You keep on posting the informative pieces. We will continue handling the dissemination in all ways possible.

Hi Ez,
I think your informants mislead you. Zagol is still working in UNECA. Please remove the post if you can. The error message users encountered is the usual one the "UNECA firewall" give when ever you open unauthorized websites, not specific to zagol or any ethiopian related sites. Even if they get the message users still can click on the link and go to Zagol or any other websites. EZ, it is untrue and also can give unnecessary alert to authorities which are eager to block what ever they can.

So what? Even if it was banned? BTW stop glorifying Siye, it took him 6yrs in prison to realize the wrongs they have done, the injustice they have done, including himself. The man is not a saint. EZ is attempting an easy way out from constantly promoting TPLF's policy. Now that EZ has been making so many wrong claims it is out of word, so instead of telling us its real identity EZ editor is hiding behind a false claim the UNECA has blocked EZ out of Ethiopia in collaboration with TPLF master minds, the truth many people from Ethiopia are saying it is not blocked and they are still accesing inormation. How is it possible for EZ to claim blockage while people from Ethiopia are saying they have no problem accessing?
The answer lies here, Once again EZ has been misleading the public for so long appearing to be anti-TPLF but deep down it is a TPLF financed website. Why would an organization like UNECA block EZ if it was individual owned website? They have no business trampling over freedom of expression. Aren't they the one that was sitting in the frontrow seat during the Meles staged deliberation of fake justice? UNECA is pro-Ethiopians but EZ is Pro-TPLF. if you look at many of the articles EZ has been writing for us to comment on they all systematically promote TPLF. Again it has nothing to say for the moment because TPLF is telling EZ-editor there is no lie at the moment to disseminate. They want us all to be holding and at some point they want to release the CUDP (the 2005 national election winners).

All woyane's are not bad. I supported Woyane long ago but I didn't like what happened since the election and even before that as they start putting force for the right questions. But most people agree even with the wrong marrage you have to work on the differences when they appear rather than completely desserted your wife. That is me. Woyane has had to many misgivings but better to work hard for the common good of all the people including for non woyane supporters and I believe in it. Regarding Seye, the guy learnt the lesson. It is difficult to trust any news that we come across this site......
I do use Internet access in ECA and i don't have problem accessing the site. they do have a web filter in place which filters some sites which are not work related in order to optimize the available bandwidth. And there is always a possibility of over filtering or under filtering for any web filter software. So whenever users have a problem accessing sites that they require, they request and that site is made available to them.
Till now i didn't have any problem, it would have been good who ever had a problem accessing the site to first clear the problem before misleading everyone.... And who ever is responsible at Ethio-Zagol, please first try and find out how genuine it is before publishing it as you might loose your trust in time.

These days only Smart Professionals are working at UNECA.
I am very much confident on the people who are dealing with the IT service. Let alone blocking your website they may not even know the presence of it. The IT People here are acting locally and thinking globally. FYI if a site takes to much bandwidth and is irrelevant of the day to day ECA tasks the staff is adiviced not to surf the site at work time not. But no such blocking is done for your site.
Kindly double check before you complain or misjudge people.
