KInijit's delegation to meet the chairman

An effort is underway to solve Kinijit's recent problems, sources in the US informed EZ Post. Some members of  Kinijit's delegation who are undertaking a tour in the US are right now heading to Minnesota to meet the party's chairman, Eng. Hailu Shawel.

This is a wise step on both sides. The problem is further exacerbated by "Kurfia" and further inflamed by the 'so called groups'. The leaders should not have listened to the 'groups'. If they had started their discussions as soon as the chairman came to North America things might have not gone so far. Or the differences might have become clearer. I believe it is not too late even now if they have ETHIOPIA and the suffering of its people at heart. Let God help them to come to their senses.

I hope the rule of law will win.
If they solve their problem with "Antem tew antem Tew: Yikir Tebabalu", i think it will not be helpful.

P.S. EZ: One of the major tasks the delegation have is to restore(or create the Kinijit support Groups), after the princip and rule of the party. Is this on the doing ?

This is great news indeed!!!!
This is what is expected of great leaders. We knew they would do it. Let's just give them time after all they just came out of prison. The Ethipian internet media's impartiality is very important in this process.

Anon 7:26 am,

I don't think you clearly understand the depth of the crissis. The 5 delegates can not solve the problem with out Hailu Shawel.

For example if they go ahead and create a Kinijit support group then the Shaleqa group will not join them means the problem of a divided Kinijit will stay. One group will be loyal to the Chairman and the other group loyal to the Berhanu/Mediksa group. Just like what we expierenced for the last 2 years. There is practically nothing you can do to stop the Shaleqa group doing what they are doing in the US. They are independent and legal. Only a letter from Hailu Shawel can stop them. Can't you see that?

I heard Dr. Berhanu's question and answer period in Dallas. And him too underestimated the crissis.

The CUD leaders have to avoid a divided Kinijit in Diaspora or else it will back fire in their face. Either accept two separate support groups who are dedicated to fund raising and diplomatical work and that are loyal to the CUD. There is no such thing as one destroying the other in North America. Both group can survive indpendently.

So friends - the only way you can solve this problem is by involving Hailu Shawel. Both the Shaleqa group and the Mewa group can listen to the chairman. With him in charge things might a bit look different. On his part he must listen and compromise with the 5 delgates. Berhanu has a lot of good ideas and it will benefit Ethiopia and the struggle if Hailu listen to him.

Otherwise there will be no effective and co-ordianted support from the Diaspora. They will spend all their time snipping each other until Kinijit is buried.

It will be the same back home. If they are divided as they are now then they will be child's play for Zenawi.

Step to start negotiation is wise decision.Ethiopia is morethan their pride. They should keep in their mind the suffering of people.Eng. Hailu Shawul should be wise before taking any abrupt action. All of them are expected to show the highest standard of integrity for their people.
Good step!!!

ananym. 8:22 AM,
i agree partially with you, but :

the chapter groups are self dedicated groups, but not recognazed from Kinijit party. we, the ppl work together with the grps. in order to help not while they are legal.

The restructuring process has to start without delay.

It is my wish, that both groups work together. But what will be the fate of the shalekas ?

This is a good news. I hope both sides will come to an agreement sooner than later. Let us give them the chance to reconcile. In this regard, an Amharic piece that I read recently and posted at http://www.ethiomedia.com/ace/enkifat.pdf, I think, perfectly articulates the sentiment of the majority. Let us hope for a good outcome. Thanks Ethio-Zagol.

Should be done long time ago it is not to late to do it know either.

Before the delegation arrives to us we all thought they will come united under one leadership not two.

Ethiopian news out lates war fanning disunity from the start .They were spreading split in the leadership.

Still we have to be careful in what intention they are coming back.Is there a secrete angenda polted by Berhanu or is this true recoceliation.

Wait and see.

Focus on this note this is US mediation result.

Jendayi Frazer, the state department’s top official on African affairs, hailed what she called “unprecedented” agreements between the Ethiopian opposition and government, which she said were “a monumental advancement in the political environment”.

The oposition memebers in the meeting are Lededu,Merara gudina,Beyene petros,Bertukan Medeksa and berhanu nega.

Is the agreement bring true democracy, justice liberty, freedom, human right in EThiopa ?

Is the agreement to prolonge TPLF/Woyane in power under different name ?

What evere the out come is we have to continue the struggle for true change to Ethipian people.

No compromise with Hailu Shawel.

He may continue with Kinijit but should step down as the leader of the party. 1- he is not physically fit enough to do the hard job 2- he is more to the right 3. He is has a dictatorial streak 4. He has done a lot of damage since he came to the US.

Hailu shawel resign gracefully
before you are told to hand over the leadership.

Birtukan has made telephone call to Hilu Shawel and appologised for her recent behaviour. She also asked the Seatle local radio station to give her time on air to appologise to the public.

Birhanu and the other team are unhappy with what is happening and they are going to make a statement saying that she has joined the EPRP. Eliase has already offered his smearing service to the group.

I will report any progress.

Good news for united Ethiopians

anon 9:41,

A lot of people don't share your idea.

With out Hailu Shawel Kinijit will be destroyed.

The Diaspora Crisis - should have been the last issue to look at on his docket but unforunately the BBBs think it is the #1.

What about the crissis at home? You start from legalization of Kinijit, then comes Ayele Chamiso, then comes the 8 points and parlamient, then comes the division of Kinijit itself, then comes election participation etc.

From what we saw here in the Diaspora - none of the 5 delegates
we will be able to stand such a crissis as a leader.

Medikisa? - forget about it!
Berhanu? I don't think so!

This will take you back to the Lidetu Crissis. Had the Chairman didn't retun from his US visit in time - Kinjit would have been destroyed.

This time even the crissis is bigger.

Reliable source from Birhanu's camp has confirmed that Birhanu has made a telephone call to Meles and Lidetu. Nobody knows what was the talk on.

It has been confirmed that Birtukan has checked out from her hotel, and she has going to stay with her relatives. It was also confirmed she will NOT attend the meeting in seatle. Instead, she will be join Eng. Hailu Shawel's meeting to be held in Washington DC.

All Ethiopians are expected to welcome her when she come to Washington DC. The day and time will be announced.

Folks here are some points to speculate. Basically I don’t want to speculate but obliged to do so. I say obliged, because a healthy mind is always in state of operation – thought. As I’ve no choice not to think (because I am concerned) and have no first hand information I must speculate based on some facts.

My theory:
The conception of the conflict is before Kality.

The “division” started in Kality.

The division of the CUD support group in Diaspora is not the cause but it is the outcome or the reflection of the division in Kality.

For the division there are hands of MI6 Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) (United Kingdom) and CIA (USA)

The conflict is not “minor”.

To elaborate my theory I ask the following questions:

Did you read the book “yenetsanet goh siked”. Refer the conflict between EDP-Medhin and AEUP and the role of Kestedemena as mediator.

Did you listen to the interview and noticed the following: “eserbet teleq yalkut tenesh, tenesh yalkut teleq hono agegnechwalehu”.

Can you recall the way how they were released? Who was ready to accept the condition to be free immediately and who was the last?

Who is the most heated by EPRDF and who is seen as “hardliner” by foreigners in general and by the US in particular?

Did you read the book “yeertra guday” (Ambassador Zewde)? Did you notice how the British and Italians tried to divide the “Unity movement”?.

Who left Ethiopia (as individual and/or as a group) earlier to the US or Europe? What do you think why and what its impact is?

What do you think why the issuance of Visa to the US delayed?

Was it practical or advisable to go to the US to solve the “Diaspora” problem before solving the problems (differences) of the “solution giver” first?

Did you notice the group in the “delegation” and the group in the “Diaspora support group”?

I believe that both characters (of the personalities in both “groups”) are important for the party and the country but in different positions and levels.
If they manage to solve their “minor” differences I applaud and appreciate them for their farsightedness and commitment. I continue to believe that they are not practicing the “classical” and “Byzantine politics”. I say then, they are really “matured”, capable and creative. Otherwise Ethiopian politics will remain in viscous circle.

Hailu is there and all are going to him. He is a figure of Kinijit. You better swallow it and rally behind him or else join Meles. Meles is to go and Hailu is the solution. Hailu is a defacto ruler of Ethiopia. Believe this. A word is enough for the wise.

A word of advise-Do not look at Hailu's ill health and age. He could be a source of Unity at least to unite Kinijit. He has over 5 million members under his party leadership. What is Keste Damena. They are a little of over 3 thousand membership party who operate in Addis but did not win the majority seats. They are not as popular as Lidetu Group. You can check the 2005 election results.

Come to your senses and do not talk wild like Elias Kifle-the Ethiopian Review mad man.

If Hailu is gone who will remain for CUD. It is to be an empty shell. Do you think Berhanu_Mewa will operate in Addis let alone in the rural areas.
I beg of you do not humilate Hailu. We need him this time and nobody will replace him.I pray to this that you stop your childish remark. This is not something that we should joke on and let it pass. It is our country concern. Meles for sure is to go and think who would replace him. We have to stay united until then. Hailu has said he will work for a while until somebody takes it up in the next party election. So till then have respect for him. Do not be wild as Elias.

A word is enough for the wise.

so may lies from the Taye - Iysasu aka Hama Tuma - groupies. It is funny that the first son of the weyane president, the husband of the first woman who signed an appologys with Genenew Assefa is accusing Birtukan of being weyane. Wow How low does EPRP go?
Iyasu aka Hama Tuma never worked a single day in all his life. He has never run a family. He has been on the welfare role of Europe and on the money raised with the blood of young Ethiopians.
Iyasu aka Hama Tuma is a welfare queen along with his drag wife. She looks like her president dad who is weyane.

October 4, 2007 (EMF) The Minority Military Junta in Addis is holding a secret negotiation with leaders of Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) in Germany, confidential sources told EMF. Senior OLF delegation led by Mr. Dawud Ibsa were present at the secret meeting in Germany. Source also disclosed that Prof. Ephrem Issac is mediating the talk between the two. According to reliable sources, the Meles regime is ready to accept some preconditions set by the OLF, if OLF is able to denounce the Ogaden National Liberation Front, ONLF

It seems AFD Military wing is the only credible threat to TPLF-AGAZI-WOYANE minority military junta ruling Ethiopia today. AFD is the most visible threat that has scored many major vitories within Ethiopian political border. TPLF is lookig for savior of some sort. Many analysts say the only reason it is accepting OLF preconditions is that the KINJIT party is a threat to it in political sphere, and doesn't want to lose in three fronts at the same time, political and military engagement, as well as legally with the Eritrean front.

Teregaga ende Birhanu Nega,

I just heard Eng. Hailu on German Radio Amharic Program that there is no division in Kinijit. I am glad the team is heading to the twin city to meet him.

What will the dividers say now?

Sorry guys. We are united so is Ethiopia. One Kinijit and one Ethiopia.

It is rather, TETEGAGA ende Birhanu Nega, instead of "Teregaga"

Birhanu Nega's politicals philosophy is go with the flow. He is a not a crafty politician. He has tried several careers and he failed on each and everyone of them. I salute him for not giving up, but he does not have concrete position I can distinguish him from TPLF. I think it is better to get closer to Meles as he is doing now. Birhanu should learn from Kihdetu Ayalew, who by the way has received his TPLF-CC-Membership ID Card.

I can tell you right now as to who is going to be very angry and will do anything to sabotage this reconciliation effort....it is Brehane Mewa and Andargachew Tsige. These guys have been working for the past two years to establish their territories and loyal franchisees ( by the way who operate as gangs) in North America under the so called “Sister Chapters of KNA” (Kinijit North America) that is run by Aglock Lemeneh and Ayalnesh who are the 007 for Brehane and Andargachew. If this effort goes through and we see these leaders back together their relevancy will diminish and they will be out of business. Knowing Berhanu Nega’s current position and his aligns with these guys …I wonder if this reconciliation effort will contribute to his self-destructive path of political bankruptcy. At least we know that the ball is still in his hand……hum!!!! He is a good strategist and God knows what he can pull from under his sleeve…..

Kinijit leaders honestly believe that they have struggled for the country under "CUD" platform for the past 10 years. I don't know if they are using a binary system. I heard Dr Yacob's interview (and mind you I still think he is one of the sober one left) said that Kinijit has been tested through fire and water and the leadership is like GOLD.
This was a typical 'gura'. How are they tested? What would TPLF and OLF say about this?
Unless one diagnose itself, his/her dismay will be catastrophic.

In May 2005, through the ballot box, the Ethiopia people demands that the CUDP leadership to lead its struggle for human, democracy and economic rights. This is the CUDP mandate and the leadership has to come together with a unity of purpose in order to carry out this paramount duty. There is no alternative route, and no short cut.

I am utterly confident that the CUDP leadership will overcome their little hiccup through civilized dialogue and discharge this supreme responsibility.

Hailu Shawel had been in eckless leadership ever since the old days of all Amhara. It is a very near occurence when he fired his vice Ali,and later Wondayen of the north American representative of AEUP;his disgrace for Lidetu Ayalew dated back since the time of Professr Asrat;these factors all I mentioned are few compare to the arrogance he live with and his illeberial style of attempting to remain surrounded by what he consider are loyal to him. With this stance, one must pray to be immune from the coming back of the DERG era, hence Ethiopia would be better of with EPRDF and oppositions willing to work together.

If at all we Ethiopians need to strengthen the current begining of democratization,we must first change ourselves:it requires the need to ponder on issues before reaching an ultimatum,we must avoid loving before knowing it well and the same needs to go for hate too.in fact it is such a community or society which can produce a leadership accontable by the law and the country will be prosperous both plitically, economically and the likes. But when it comes to the the two generations back, this is not what is happening in Ethiopia;for every little occurence, judgement is being made arbitrarily and that is why we happen to be like"a belt fastened while running, will come undone while running". You know,my hero Ledetu, the pioneer to establish a multiparty political organization, the sole person to defy armed struggle and persude all parties to follow this path, one who courageously said that it is possible to win election
peacefully is now considred as triator, but we must not forget that we called him the Ethiopian Mandella.so with this sort of generation, how can we have a stable society and country.with Hailu and co, they must know that it is time for the generation to replace them and it is better to stay away from the politics.
After all of those sacrifices, Ethiopia now in a much better position, thus devoid of EPRDF we shall never see Ethiopia in twenty or so years in the Current position of China.

Kinijit International Counsel

The rift between the Kinijit delegates that are to tour USA has become a. common knowledge during their arrivals. The Kinijit Chairman and delegate leader on one side and the other five delegates nominally led by Wz. Bertukan Medeksa on the other. This has been a major concern among Ethiopians both at home and in the Diaspora. Rumors of getting them together and hammering out their differences have been fanned by several pal talk hosts and tabloid websites in the past few weeks.

Indifference of the p party rules and regulations of solving problems and resolving member differences, behind scenes discussions and pressure by several concerned groups to get the two groups together were carried out. Eventually this lead for setting a meeting in the afternoon of Friday, October 5, 2007 between Engineer Hailu Shawel, Wz. Betukan Mideksa and Dr. Hailu Araya .

Wz. Bertukan and Dr. Hailu At the insistence and behest of the two who came in a day earlier, it was arranged that they would meet the Chairman who was resting from a rigorous test for about 15 minutes for greetings exchange and continue with their discussion and possible negotiations tomorrow afternoon as previously agreed upon.

To our surprise and dismay, we learnt that after the brief meeting which did not last more than 15 minutes, Bertukan and Haile headed to the airport. Ato Brook is said to accompany the two and with no significant role. Rumor has it that Wz. Bertukan and Dr. Haile had from the start no the intention to go through a sincere and honest dialogue but had gone all the way to score a political stunt. If that be their case, lo and behold, their effort has misfired from the launching pad.

Let me say this. Bertukan & Berhanu et al. are premature to seize unto the saddle that they are riding now. The task of leadership caught them by surprise. [Bertukan is a fresh lawyer with no experience and Berhanu is an academician who did not venture to take a task out of his teaching class. If he did, he failed his father and sustained him to lose a lot of property]. They are premature and lack experience. [Allow me to cite a simple gross error. Had they been waiting on Hailu till he arrives, delay their campaign in DC and take a concerted action with Hailu rather than playing a fanfare, they would not have divided the Diaspora and would have from the outset collected a huge sum].Unknowingly, they played the card of Meles.

Hence, I feel the leadership vacuum in BBB group. I also feel that in order to seal this gap they need the reputation of Hailu Shawel. Hailu is inevitable and could be a necessary evil but they need him. Leadership is no easy. Hailu is the man to mend our differences and lead us to ultimate victory.

Anonymous said...

Hailu Shawel must realize that time is of the essence in all this. He should not expect the world would stand still while he recuperates from his illness. He can't hold a whole Disapora hostage by claiming he is sick, can't give interviews, can't attend meetings, but then turn around and selectively give interviews to those who agree with him. That is unfair. He should realize that Ethiopia is above Hailu Shawel.

The BB Group should also disclose what transpired at the initial meeting of the coalition just before and after the establishement of Kinijit. Was there any agreement to give the Lion's share of the power to Hailu Shawel because he had "more experience" or has "won much more seats during the electio."

By the end of the day what the two or three or all the coalition members agreed at the initial meeting when CUD forms will be the final criteria on which we can judge any of their subsequent decision. We live by our agreements. If there was an agreement how things would be run in the future, all have to abide by that agreement. We from the outside are simply fanning the fire without understanding this core issue: What was the agreement when CUD was formed? How was power to devolve upon the Chairman, the V/Chairman, other Members of the La'elay Mikerbet, the full 60-strong Mikerbet. Pacta sunt Servanda, as in Latin. We abide by our agreements.

We need explanation from both sides on that score.

The attempt by the BB group to thwart Kinjit's standing priciple of working together seemed to have reached at the end of the road.
It is like the old saying...the chickens come home to roost.

I have a thought in any organization including political party there is ethical ,legal and organizational rule.

Correct me if I am wrong if it does not exist in Kinijit or Ethiopian political parties are excluded and are on vacation.

Here is my question

Help me out

1.When a vice chair person is running a show by excluding the chair man by denovo what is the punishment?

2.Can the chairman be excluded with out he willfully exclude himself?

3.Can the chairman be excluded with out he pressured by his party memmberes to resigned ?

4.Can the chairman be excluded with he is voted out from his postion by the people who elected him?

For Ethiopia to persist in the current political trend and make the democratization process in a far-flung position, most importantly the role of EPDRF to exist as the vanguard of the existing democratic process and the existance of different opposition partis of different or similar ideology is indespenasble, further more Hailu Shawel and co. are still attempting to take us back to the era of the Kings and Derg,so here is where Ethiopians must reaally be very cautious;we have to defy that the old idea of "I am the one who knows what best for you", must cease once and for all.
Let Hailu and co.remain isolated and go on their own while the emocraic sitution, peace, prosperity and stability exists until the dooms day.

We are way over/past that and all TPLF propaganda from TPLF's stalinist days to 'revolutionary democrat' to 'nations and nationality self determination without Ethiopia' to EFFORT style apartheid thiefery and bizzare economics, bizzare 100 yrs Ethiopian history and 2000 yrs millennium of Ethiopia, which by the way contradicts. And TPLF's recent restatment/reaffirmation of "dying for Eritrea's independence more than EPLF and Issayas" in Ayatollaha Sebhat Nega's own recent words which is bizzare.

Sniffing around CUD's little problems and salivating for some explosion in CUD to destroy itself like EPRP did in late 1970s and some fructured bones like Kihidetu Ayalew on a silver platter like it was the EPRP-anja for Derg, is the dream of Woyane LIKISKIS dog.

Dr. Berhanu ain't no Kihidetu. Dr. Berhanu and all the other elected leaders have deep understanding of issues and they know where they came from and they know where they are going. Their dreams are out in the open. Hailu and Berhanu are servants of Ethiopia themselves and nothing else and they want Ethiopia to be free at last with as little bloodshed as possible. Another round of AGAZI/TPLF/Meles Zenawi massacering Ethiopians yet again IS what Engineer Hailu who will not be Kihidetu and Dr Berhanu are trying to avoid. There will be thousands of leaders like Hailu and Berhanu and Bertukan and Muluneh and...by the way EPRP should stay away too

The goal of kinijit is to bring freedom, jusctice, libetry, human right and democracy to Ethiopians.

These moto for the first time was manifested by its leaders determination to confront the dictatorial leaders of TPLF.

They have stood firm and stead fast under the threat of death or life imprisonment.

Today when they are shaking the foundation of tribal based TPLF dictatorial leadership we are seening split in kinijit.

The split is for good reason because the struggle is becoming intense and leading to the final show down bettwen tyrany and democracy it between criminals tugs and true states men and women.

I saw apicturial exibit on ethiolion .com during celebreation of TPLF/EPLF victory in addis.

In these picture I saw strange bed fellows guse who Berhanu Nega,Shemagel prof.Ehrem ,BERHANU NEGA MELESE AND ISAYAS.
