Merkel slams Meles

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany pulls no punches when it comes to telling dictators what they don't want to hear. Today she became the first western leader to call for a democratic opening in Ethiopia. And she did that in front of journalists with Meles sitting next to her. This week is ending up as a disastrous week for the Meles administration on the diplomatic front. Now Aigaites have to tell us whether  the vocal diaspora in George Town has anything to do with Merkel's position, and whose citizenship they may revoke!
Here is the Reuters article on Merkel's plea. And here is AFP's.

Chancellor Merkel and the people of Germany, please accept warm greetings from an ordinary citizen of Ethiopia. Your help is much appreciated by ordinary Ethiopians like me who are deprived of their democratic and human rights by their own government. Meles is a real dictator whose action is contarary to his words. For you know action speaks louder than words this cruel petty dictator can't fool you. He is a person that gave order to kill 196 Ethiopian civilians in the streets of Addis Ababa only. Please wash your hand after shaking hands with him. The German tax payers money must not be given to Meles. Please find way for the money to reach the poors on the grass root level.

Hi EZ
Thanks for your unwavering stand on delivering the truth about Ethiopia and its myopic leader day after day. Regarding Merkel telling Meles to open up democracy in the land, I am not sure it will mean anything to this idiotic warlord. He is the typical African bonehead dictator who will not change an iota about his destructive behavior until it is too late. No African dictator got it, and I doubt this one will. Please continue the good job you have been doing.

too early to declare a victory...unless you see victory in everything...is victory a spirit too...

Even the US and North Europeans need to be more open and democratic...everything is relative. Ethiopia is open enough for the wise, but unforunately not for those ones that want to jump a que and be counted as a democratic country in name only.

Democracy and Free speech are vexatious in a poor country...live with that or earn it by working hard and empowering yourself first.

The Aigaities and the Hodam Binyam Kebede from Ethiopia first should tell us how the vocal diaspora in Washington played a role in convincing Merkel to tell the truth about Meles's dictatorial regime.
The fact is that Meles's hidden mask is unveiled and his dictatorship and thuggis nature is exposed.
The world don't have place for such Myopic Kleptocrats like Meles Zenawi.

Any high profile leader who wants to visit the African Union Head Quarters in Addis Ababa would visit dictator Zenawi on its way. However they must use the opportunity like that of Angela Merkel to tell the dictator like it is. Offcourse Aigaiets and Tplf cadres would never miss the opportunity to tell us that the high profile leaders visit to Addis Ababa (AU HQ) is a manifestation of Zenawi's democratic credential. But it is "hode siyawke doro mata"

you seem to care about targetting the government than about democracy.

are you fighting to tarnish the reputation of ethiopian government or to work together to bring peace and democracy in ethiopia??

meles government will be willing to work for better ethiopia if you are not trying to tarnish him. but since your target is harming meles at "diplomatic front" instead of working with everyone for progress, Ethiopia's misery will continue.

Its about time, Angela Merkel knock some sense into this ugly dog looking bandits leader (zenawi). She should also put pressure on him to abide by the rule of law and allow the border to be demarcated so our hands will be freed from that senseless hold up. We have been holding Eritrea for a while now, it is time to release them and deny Esayas the excuse to hold on to Eritreans in the name of defending the border. If we do that the Eritreans themeselves will bring Esayas down.

I wonder what kind of democracy you will bring to Ethiopia if you hold on to power.
Today you are accusing Aiga yet encourage ER.
What do you tell yourself when you go to bed? Do you guys pray? Do you pray to GOD to bring peace or to wipe out woyanes?
Really, I see some sickening blogs and posts. Let's wake up and smell the coffee. We are hurting our country.

EZ, Don't select only the negative and post it if you are truly democratic. You are nullifying your struggle.

Yes, Merkel understood how dangerous a shark Meles is, who devoured the Addis Youth in two occassions. Besides, she did not forget how he insulted the intelligence of a 200-man high-level delegate led by her colleague, Ana Gomez. Meles proved that he is one of the dumbest politicians to have thought that he can bark at everyone, who objected him and scare him/her to silence, as he does to his subjects in his \\\'party\\\'. The moment he wrote that junk of him in his government papers and websites and let it be read in public, he has lost the game for good. Let alone any European leader or prominent politician, even the Americans cannot accept such a vulgar approach from someone, whom they have been helping stay in power and even feed him. And they know how to penalize such a vulgar: disgrace him gradually but surely until he stands naked and completely humiliated. Can\\\'t you see that Meles is already without a shirt? Wait for a while and you shall see him without pants.

There are lots of dictators in the hell hole called subsaharan Africa though TPLF's Zenawi is one of the worst, if not the worst. Ethiopia is been given attention and the green light to overthrow tyranny and minority ethnic rule, the sickness of Africa.

It is now upto the freedom loving and pro-democratic forces in Ethiopia to capitalize on recent situations.
