Ogaden and Pan-Ethiopianists
News reports about the grave human rights abuses in Ogaden are coming thick and fast. This is time for Pan-Ethiopianists to start actively advocating for the rights of our brothers and sisters in Ogaden. Let's do what we had done when the CUD leaders were in prison(even more intensively). My thought about ONLF is clear. But that has nothing to do with standing for the rights of Ogaden Ethiopians.

We should be stand against all human right abuse. First let us put our complain with evidences. Then, let someone prepar a pition addressed to UN and other concerned bodies (I couldn't do that)? What else means of struggle? demonstration, etc...
Tazabi.
As the late Professor Asrat Woldeyes once said when Ethiopians were thrown off cliffs and murdered in most gruesam ways in places like Arbagugu and Bedeno in early 1990s, "Yesew baet siqattel yalderese baetu siqattel yemidersilet yelem".
In contrast, the tyrant Meles Zenawi said at that time something like "asadajina tesadaj ketarik yimaralu" and if it was anywhere else in the world, Meles would've been killed by a mob the night he said those words. Not b/c OPDO with pickup trucks and TPLF bombs kill many of those victims but for just saying those words alone.
You are right EthioZagol, we should raise our voices and it's us and not them brothers and sisters, we are the Ethiopians, we are the Ethiopians everywhere and you can't be brother or sister to yourself. "Human rights abuse anywhere is human rights abuse everywhere, let alone our own people". SOEPC says that often.
lest we forget:
The region usually refered by most Ethiopians as GAMBELAS saw massacre in the hands of AGAZI, and Awassa people were massacred, and before Hadiyas were killed for voting for Dr. Beyene Petros whose heroic brother colonel Bezabih Petros was one of the best bomber pilots at Ethiopian Airforce 'whose blood is still not dry' according to many in the force, and that the language satelite Woyane cadres invented and called WEDAGOGIGNA caused many to be killed by TPLF b/c they protested against that weird language. The Oromos are massacred everywhere since OLF broke ranks with TPLF for being suspected supporters of the OLF. And then Addis Abeba, to whom ethnicity means not much, started to get the long stick of fascist AGAZI. But all along, before 40 university students were massacred in April 2001 at AAU and hundreds fled to Kenya, Woyane was telling Addis Abebans on ETV that the people he killed in Ogaden, Afar, Sidamo, Wellega or as near to Addis as Ambo were separatists. And when Woyane killed Amaras, he told the other Ethiopians that he only destroyed some chuouvinists of the monarchy Mengistu forgot to kill.
Again, no more abuse of any kind on Ethiopian Somalis or any kind of Ethiopians.
EZ,
Good point, well said. We should think beyond the rhetoric and stand with our brothers and sisters of Ogaden, Gambella, Oromo..etc. Yes, few might fall in Woyanne’s trap of ethnic politics. Yes, there were inequalities; we should discuss around the table to overcome the past wrong doings. Our problem is the administrations of the times including the current one. Let not the rulers such as Woyanne divide and rule us. By no means this means to overlook our past, but openly discuss and build a democratic Ethiopia for all based on equality, “one man one vote.”
Therefore, we should feel the abuse of our sisters of Ogaden, the killings of our brothers of Ogaden, and all the sufferings should be condemned. The test of once belonging is during bad times.
I am quite disappointed what you mean by Pan Ethiopians. Please clarilfy
`
EZ,
You are coming around. I am surprised, after all the neglect and finally you recognize the Ogadenia people as people belonging to the Ethiopian nation. This is a huge development by itself. Many Ethiopian websites have ignored the plight of the Somalis in Ogadenia. Infact this very web page contains all the freedom fighting groups and the liberation groups but it purposely ignored the struggle of the ONLF. The ONLF was created in 1994 after TPLF refused to engage in discussion the rights of the people, instead TPLF chose to ignore it. Today ONLF is one of the most active political organization, it has scored some major military victory around the Ogadenia and beyond. In fact, despite its numeric challenges ONLF has shown tremendous effort in improving its stand and commitment. Today thanks to TPLF strigent squeez on the civilians of the Ogadenia, the number of fighters has grown dramatically. People are joining the ONLF in order to die with dignity rather than be killed at home, they have taken oath to die like men on the battle ground. Surprisingly, they are avenging their brothers death by a ratio of 3:1. TPLF kills one Ogadenia, the ONLF kills three TPLF soldiers.
I think Addis Voice should carry ONLF for they are fighting for dignity and integrity. Some people say they are fighting to separate, SO WHAT?
They have the right to ask for their own home land much like TPLF when they came to Ethiopia or OLF. ONLF deserves an outlet in Ethiopian web pages, Addis Voice has given an outlet to EPPF, which is an organization created two years ago, why not give ONLF the outlet? It has been in the jungles of Ethiopia killing the enemy of Ethiopia (TPLF) for the last 13 years. I think it would be fair for us majority Ethiopians to recognize their plight and give ONLF the political and monetary support.
PATRIOT
The crime committed by TPLF, anywhere in Ethiopia or in Somalia, should be exposed and denounced. However; it is hard to support a group fighting ultimately to dismantle the homeland.
Interesting! Abyissinians started to feel the pain of other nations out of Habashas. Good start, then we may come to the point of talking about UNITY! Till now yxou cried only about the pain of Abeshas, but never about Oromos, Ogadenis, Sidamas, Afars...etc Any way it is a good sign for you started to coming to your senses!!!!
It is about time, Yes support our brothers and sister in Ogaden!!!!!!
EZ, we ogadenians are not ethiopians or never were, so please spare us your "Ogadenian Ethiopian" misnomer. Ogadenia will be free! Sooner than you think.
The oil belongs to us, Ethiopia can't steal and exploit it from us by no means. We will fight with our Oromo and Eritrean brothers until the tigre militia is broken.
Down with Meles!!!!
Down with bogus Ethiopia!!!
Thanks EZ !!!
It is time for us Pan-Ethiopans to voice for the rights of our innocent people in the Ogaden region of Ethiopia. Killings in Ogaden should outrage us the same way we were outraged when Aggazzi troops killed our poeple in Addis Ababa. There is no selective outcray for human rights. No double standard. We should show to the Ogadenie Ethipians that there are people concerned and outraged by what the regime in Addis is doing. This is time for Pan-Ethiopianists to start actively advocating for the rights of our brothers and sisters in Ogaden.
EZ,
You are venturing into a dangerous territory. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.
Ethiozagol U are the man.
I was amazed by some peoples silence on this issue. Silence means acceptance. We should never alliniet our own people by keeping silent in thier bad time. So where is the outrage? Are we going to prove weyane's assertion that we only care for power in Menelik's palace? Does our silence mean we don't care about our people's cry in other regions? It is troubling indeed. And thakns again Mr. Zagol for your principled stand on human rights abuse whichever Ethiopian region it is committed.
EZ, Meles needs to be stopped ASAP!!! He signed oil development agreement with petronas last week to exploit the oil that belongs to OGADENIA. THAT's STEALING!!
We need all the help we can get from AMHAROS especially to bring this issue to the US congress to cut off all bilateral aid to Bogus Ethiopia. TIGRAY exploitation of OGADENIA oil and gas needs to stop ASAP. Intensify the pressure through all avenues.
Thank you EZ
It is really commendable of Zagol to challenge the regime for its brutal crackdown in Ogaden Ethiopia. The regime must stop it before things get out of control like that of Darfur. Melles Zenawi and his cohorts will face International criminal Court soon.
All Ethiopian should denounce the dangerous collective punishment in ogadien no matter how we view the question of the ONLF. What the government is doing is very dangerous for Ethiopia in general. It will only strengthen the people will to fight back. The government should learn from its own histroy. It is amazing the current government was accusing the Derg government on collective punishment.
To get the fish, dry up the sea is the way Melles zenawi's soldiers doing in ogaden. what a tragedy? we need to condemn the dictatorial regime of Melles Zenawi. Melles is terorrizing the horn of africa.
EZ,
Ogadenia shall be free by any means neccessary!!!!
Meles will fail and Ethiopia will be dismantled once and for all.
Long live Ogadenia!
Long Live Oromia!
Long Live Eritrea!
Intensify the struggle for freedom from Abyssinia rule.
How many more people should Zenawi kill before he faces justice at the ICC in the Huegue? He is creating another Darfur. Mogadishu is already in flames thanks to Zenawi's invasion. What is the world waiting for? the world seems to wait for nother disaster due to the incopetent zenawi regime.
FROM YENENEH
EZ YOUR ARE RIGHT ON> WE SHOULD ALL COME TOGETHER AS ONE WHEN ANY ETHIOPIAN PEOPLE ARE PERSECUTED. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ OBANG METHO'S RECENT ARTICLE PLEASE GO TO WWW.ETHIOMEDIA.COM AND READ IT.
WE HAVE TO BE UNIFIED. WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE FINGER CAN DO WHEN SEPARATED FOR THE HAND.
SOME OF THE ABOVE WHO ARE RANTING ABOUR OROMIA, OGADENIA ETC... TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE REALLY SAYING.
TOGETHER WE CAN ALL PROSPER ALL ETHIOPIANS NOT JUST ORMOMOS, ODADEN... TRY TO SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE AS A HUMAN BEING NOT AS ONE BEING FROM AN ETHNIC GROUP
WE ARE FIRST HUMANS THEN WE ARE WHAT WE DEFINE OURSELVES TO BE. IF YOU CHOOSE THE NARROW ROAD YOUR RESULTS WILL BE AS NARROW AND AS BLINDED BY THAT NARROWNESS
PLEASE MY BROTHERS AND SISTER ETHIOPIANS LET US UNITE INSTEAD OF THIS RIDICULOUS SEPARATISM RHETORIC THAT IS SPEWED. LET US MOVE FORWARD NOT BACKWARD.
TAMAGN THE ARTIST HAS A SAYING THAT I WOULD REPSCTFULLY LIKE TO USE "MECHACAHL YECHALAL"
WHAT ARE OTHER COUNTRIES AND NATIONS THAT WANT TO HELP US LOOKING AT US THINKING WHEN WE START DECALRING WE WANT A COUNTRY CALLED OROMIA OR OGADENIA OR ETC...
I AM SORY BUT YOU ALL THAT ARE PROMOTING THIS SEPARATISM ARE RIDICULOUS. WE WILL GET NOWHERE AS A NATION OR AS A CONTINENT.
LOOK AT SPAIN AND THE EXAMPLE OF CATALONIA. THE CATALANS ARE NATIONALISTIC AND HAVE THEIR OWN FLAG BUT THEY ARE STILL PART OF SPAIN. THERE ARE SOME RADICAL ELEMENTS THAT WANT A SEPARATE COUNTRY OF CATALONIA BUT A MAJORITY REALIZE THE BENEFITS OF COOPERATION
WHY CANT WE DO THAT MY FRIENDS
GOD BLESS ETHIOPIA AND HER PEOPLE
YENENEH
YENENEH,
Ethiopian empire is in existance as a result of violent colonial incorporation of other ethnic nations against their will. We, Ogadenians, don't ever want to be part of anything called Ethiopia. Period. Ogaden will be a free country with huge oil & gas export potential. We don't need so-called Ethiopia which is a dirt poor miserable nation.
Down with Meles!!!
Down with bogus Ethiopia!
Long live Ogadenia!
Narrow-minded oromos, please learn Obang Metho's philosophy of struggling to overthrow the regime who is against humanity so that we all can leave peacefully as brothers and sisters. Replacing one oppressor with another should not be the reason to struggle. Come to your senses yourself!!!
Ogadenians who boast "Ogaden will be a free country with huge oil & gas export potential. We don't need so-called Ethiopia which is a dirt poor miserable nation."
That was exactly how the Eritreans boasted before they secede from Ethiopia. Where are they now? Under the most brutal dictator who doesn't allow them even the most basic human right "to speak". That same brutal dictator was promising them that he will make Eritrea Africa's top country just to separate Eritrea and be the president of that poor country. So you must be struggling just to come to power and bring misery to the Ogaden people. If you have the ability to lead a nation, which I doubt you have, you could lead Ethiopia not only Ogaden.
Festamm eslamm, oil be chat kitele tikfrom yimewota moslotal ekooo
ZENAWI SEEMS READY TO BREAK UP ETHIOPIA. TIME TO STOP HIM BEFORE TOO LATE.
Thanks EthioZagol! It is time to standby our brothers and sisters in Ogaden. The Wayane regime encourages division so they could kill us one other time.
We say no to the human rights abuse against Ogaden Ethiopians.
